What Online Counseling in Colorado Is Like

Online counseling in Colorado is a real therapy session, not a lesser version of one. The practical difference is that the room is created where you are: a private place, a stable connection, and an hour set aside for the work.

Before the first session

You need a private space where you will not be overheard, a reasonably steady internet connection, and an hour when you are not driving or working. Headphones can help, especially if other people are nearby.

You do not need to prepare a presentation about yourself or arrive with a finished diagnosis. It is enough to know what has been difficult and what made you decide to reach out now.

What happens during online counseling

You receive a link before the appointment and join from a phone, tablet, or computer. The platform is encrypted and intended for healthcare. If the technology gives you trouble, we sort it out or move to the phone; it is not a test.

The session is still a conversation. We pay attention to what you are saying, what you notice in yourself, and what is happening between us as the work unfolds.

Privacy matters more than equipment

A private room is more important than having an expensive camera. Some people use a bedroom, an office, or a parked car, as long as they are not driving and will not be interrupted. Letting the people around you know that you need an hour can make the arrangement easier.

If you cannot find a private setting, tell me before the session. We can think about what would make the work possible rather than pretending the problem is not there.

Who online counseling can suit

Video counseling can be useful when the right counselor is not nearby, when travel makes regular appointments difficult, or when beginning from home feels less exposed. Adults and couples can use online sessions for anxiety, depression, relationship problems, grief, addiction and recovery, personality patterns, and life transitions.

Video is not right for every situation. If there is immediate risk to your safety or a crisis that needs an immediate response, call 911 or 988 rather than waiting for an online appointment.

Starting with a free phone call

The first phone call is free and carries no obligation. It is a chance to say what is going on, ask practical questions about online counseling in Colorado, and get a sense of whether the work feels like a fit.
