Borderline Personality Disorder Counseling
Let’s TalkI work with adults living with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and related personality patterns in my Fair Oaks Ranch office, serving Boerne and the Texas Hill Country. Secure video counseling is available to adults physically located in Texas, Colorado, or Missouri.
You might be seeking help with intense emotions, fear of abandonment, relationships that feel unstable, or uncertainty about your sense of self. You do not need to diagnose yourself before asking for help. We can begin with your experience and consider what kind of care fits your needs.
A diagnosis is not the whole person
A BPD diagnosis describes a pattern of difficulties; it does not tell me everything about you. People can have similar symptoms for different reasons, and recognizing yourself in a description online is not the same as a clinical assessment.
In counseling, we can talk about what is disrupting your daily life, how relationships feel, and what you want help with. If you already have a diagnosis or other providers, bring that information to the first conversation.
My Gestalt approach to personality patterns
A substantial part of my practice involves BPD and related personality patterns. My approach is Gestalt therapy: noticing what is happening as it happens, including feelings, bodily experience, the pull toward or away from another person, and how we make contact in the room.
We may slow down around a difficult moment and explore what you notice before choosing how to respond. This is an account of how I work, not a promise that one approach will meet every person's needs or that change will happen on a particular schedule.
Choosing the right level and kind of care
Gestalt counseling here is not a structured dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) program. DBT is one of the psychotherapies used for BPD and may be worth discussing if you are seeking structured skills training or a particular treatment program.
During the consultation, we can discuss whether this practice fits what you need or whether another clinician, a structured program, or more intensive support would be more appropriate. Outpatient counseling is not a substitute for emergency care.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. In the United States, call or text 988 for crisis support.
Practical details before your first appointment
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, Colorado, and Missouri. Sessions are in person in Fair Oaks Ranch or by secure video within those states. The first session is a chance to discuss your concerns, what you hope for, and whether continuing together makes sense.
Fees and getting started
The first phone consultation is free and lasts about fifteen minutes. An intake session is $165, individual sessions are $145, and couples sessions are $185. Sessions run about an hour. Active-duty service members, veterans, and first responders receive discounted session rates.
New clients are self-pay, and I do not provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. We can discuss your questions before you book anything.
Common questions
Do I need a diagnosis or a clear explanation before I call?
No. You do not need a diagnosis or a finished explanation of what is wrong. We can start with what you are experiencing and work out together whether counseling here is appropriate.
What happens during the free phone consultation?
The call lasts about fifteen minutes. You can describe what is bringing you in, ask about the approach and practical details, and get a sense of whether I am the right counselor for you. There is no obligation to book. If I am not the right fit, I will say so and help you look for another option.
Can I see you online if I live in Texas, Colorado, or Missouri?
Yes. I hold LPC licenses in Texas, Colorado, and Missouri and offer secure video sessions for adults and couples physically located in one of those states at the time of the session. If you will be elsewhere, tell me before the appointment so we can discuss whether it needs to be rescheduled.
