Addiction and Recovery Counseling
Let’s TalkI offer addiction and recovery counseling for adults in Fair Oaks Ranch, near Boerne and northwest San Antonio. I hold LPC licenses in Texas, Colorado, and Missouri, as well as a Texas Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) license. Secure video counseling is available within Texas, Colorado, and Missouri.
People come at different points: while substance use is causing problems, after a return to use, or well into recovery when stopping has not resolved the difficulties underneath. The first conversation is a place to describe where you are without needing a polished recovery story.
Support during substance use and after stopping
Counseling can focus on the role substance use has in your life, what happens around craving, and how stress, shame, loss, or relationships interact with the pattern. We can also discuss how your current support is working and whether you need a different level of care.
Recovery may bring concerns of its own: rebuilding trust, finding a way to be with difficult feelings, and changing routines that used to revolve around using. These are worth talking about even when you have been sober for a long time.
How Gestalt therapy informs the work
We pay attention to your present experience rather than only rehearsing an explanation of how addiction began. What do you notice just before the urge to use? What happens when you talk about shame, conflict, or being alone? Those moments can be explored in the session without treating you as a problem to be fixed.
The approach is a conversation and an invitation to notice, not a guarantee against a return to use. We will discuss your goals and whether this kind of counseling is a useful part of your support.
Counseling is not medical detoxification
This practice provides outpatient counseling, not medical detoxification, withdrawal management, or medication prescribing. Depending on your situation, counseling alone may not be enough; a medical assessment or a more intensive treatment setting may be needed.
Stopping some substances abruptly can be dangerous. If you may be at risk of withdrawal, seek medical advice before changing your use. For a suspected overdose, severe symptoms, or immediate danger, call 911. For crisis support in the United States, call or text 988.
Qualifications, location, and the first conversation
The Texas LCDC license is specific to substance use counseling; counseling practice in Texas, Colorado, and Missouri is under the corresponding state LPC license. You can check the license numbers and official lookup links on the credentials page.
The office is in Fair Oaks Ranch. If you are considering video sessions, you need to be physically located in Texas, Colorado, or Missouri at the appointment time. The free phone consultation is a chance to ask about fit, logistics, and whether other support should come first.
Fees and getting started
The first phone consultation is free and lasts about fifteen minutes. An intake session is $165, individual sessions are $145, and couples sessions are $185. Sessions run about an hour. Active-duty service members, veterans, and first responders receive discounted session rates.
New clients are self-pay, and I do not provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. We can discuss your questions before you book anything.
Common questions
What happens during the free phone consultation?
The call lasts about fifteen minutes. You can describe what is bringing you in, ask about the approach and practical details, and get a sense of whether I am the right counselor for you. There is no obligation to book. If I am not the right fit, I will say so and help you look for another option.
Do you accept insurance or provide a superbill?
New clients are self-pay. I am not taking on new clients who want to use insurance, and I do not provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement. Existing clients using insurance are unaffected by this policy for new clients.
Can I see you online if I live in Texas, Colorado, or Missouri?
Yes. I hold LPC licenses in Texas, Colorado, and Missouri and offer secure video sessions for adults and couples physically located in one of those states at the time of the session. If you will be elsewhere, tell me before the appointment so we can discuss whether it needs to be rescheduled.
